Today, I am delighted to make two huge announcements about the future of Five out of Ten.

We’re adding a new member to the team: Kaitlin Tremblay is joining us as our new Managing Editor, along with current staff members Craig Wilson (Design Editor), Robbie Pickles (Copy Editor) and Marko Jung (International Geek of Mystery). Kaitlin has already been working with us in secret on Issue 8: she brings a wealth of experience, knowledge and writing flair to the magazine, and I am thrilled to have her on board as we move towards the second anniversary of the magazine.

But that’s not the only bit of news: Kaitlin and I have written a new book called Escape to Na Pali: A Journey to the Unreal, which will be available from 23rd June through this site! We’ve been working on this project in secret for the past three months: it has been a joy to write and I think you’re all going to love it.

Get all the information from the Escape to Na Pali page. We’ve got more great things planned for the summer, including our ninth issue in July and a little surprise for all of our readers in August. As always, thanks for your support and helping us do what we do.

Here is the press release for Escape to Na Pali:

Go on a journey to a place you’ve never been. Escape to Na Pali.

What does it mean to be alien? What makes videogame journeys worth it? Escape to Na Pali: A Journey to the Unreal is a writing adventure to the world of the classic videogame Unreal. Join Kaitlin Tremblay and Alan Williamson as they explore the sublime in videogames, the fictional architecture of game spaces, what happens when science-fiction meets high fantasy and much more. Discover why Unreal is as enthralling and relevant as ever.

This is where games writing and pop culture collide: an essential read for anyone who loves videogames or just wants to take a trip to somewhere they’ve never been, from the team that brought you Five out of Ten.
